| My job has been sold but I am still getting calls from couriers, how do I stop this? |
When you agree a job with one of our couriers, it is very important that you assign the job to them through our system. Ask the courier for their Driver ID, log-in to your account and go to 'My Jobs'. Then click the 'Assign' button next to the job. Enter the Driver ID and verify that the couriers details are correct, you can also enter the agreed price and any other notes or terms. You can also print proof of collection and proof of delivery forms if you wish to do so. Assigning a job will remove it from the live search, avoiding unwanted calls and will also create a record in our system of the price and terms that were agreed with the courier. Job assignment is designed to protect both you and the courier and is a vital link in the chain. |
| What size van do I need? |
Please check out our size guide to calculate the size of van required |
| How much should I charge? |
Please check out our cost calculator to get a guideline price |
| How will I be contacted? |
The courier will contact you by telephone once they have seen the listing and wish to proceed with it. Try to include numbers where you can be contacted during working hours as this is when most couriers will be looking for collections. |
| My goods are dangerous / hazardous - Can I still list them? |
Yes - We have members who have the correct licences to ship your dangerous goods - Please see our Dangerous and Hazardous goods guidelines. Include as much information as possible in your posting as this will prevent problems upon collection or delivery. |
| How do I know that courier is trustworthy? |
|
Transport4 check all listed couriers before giving access to your details. We also have a feedback scheme which will allow you to see whether a courier has a good reputation. |
| How should I package my goods? |
This will depend on what you are shipping. Whilst couriers will always take the utmost care with your goods, for fragile and valuable items it is always important that you make the packages as secure as possible. £1 spent on bubble wrap may prevent heartache and upset if the goods arrive damaged. |
| Are my goods insured? |
All goods are insured by the courier that will handle the goods for you. A courier must prove to Transport4 that they have valid Goods In Transit insurance. For high value items you may wish to check with the courier that their policy will cover you, but most couriers will have cover up to at least £10,000. |
| What questions do I need to ask of the receiver? |
You will need to know when the receiver will be available to accept delivery and also a contact telephone number for them so the courier may contact them. When a courier agrees to take the job, it is imperative that you agree a delivery time with both the courier and the receiver. |
| How can I get the most out of the site? |
Please see our site user guide to maximise what you get out of the site |
| Why is it important to confirm the terms of a job through the website as soon as it is sold? |
When you agree the terms of a job with a courier, you must mark the job as sold straight away and confirm the details including, delivery time and agreed price. The courier will receive this confirmation so that they can check the terms and question any discrepancies. If the job details are not confirmed before the job is undertaken then we cannot assist you should any problems arrive later. This is an integral part of the Transport4 machine and is designed to protect both you and the courier. |
| How do I pay the courier? |
It is very rare that a courier has the facility to take a payment by debit or credit card and it is unlikely that they will accept payment by cheque, so it is always advisable to pay cash. You should confirm this when speaking to the courier and agreeing the job, do not forget that if the receiver is paying the courier it is your responsibility to inform them of the price and also advise them to have cash unless other terms have been agreed with the courier. |
| Why is the website very text based? |
As the majority of users are on the road and using PDA’s or mobile devices to access the internet, they do not want to download large graphics or photos. We have tried to make the site as user friendly as possible on a variety of platforms. |
